Leonid Pereplyotchik

The daughter of French Communist Vera Lotar married Ivan, the Soviet Trade representative in Paris, and goes with him to Moscow. Then, the Soviet secret police arrested Ivan as a French spy and Vera as a French spy's wife. Vera Lotar goes through all of the ordeals of Soviet "Best in the World" Communist regime: jails, concentration camps, humiliations, and tortures. After Stalin's death, she moves to Siberia and occasionally performs piano concerts. Her former torturer, a retired KGB officer, lives in the same town.
