Chechen Transit
Churchill Club |
The military service in the Soviet Army was one more illustration of cruelty and inhumanity of the society in the USSR. The short story Chechen Transit shows the soldier's hard life, drunkenness, and dumbness of the military officers. Corporal Lenny tries to defend his dignity against attempts to humiliate him. He was a witness to the bloody crushing of a Chechen uprising in the Chechen exile area South Kazakhstan. The Military Police troops killed all men in the Chechen community and send to exile Chechen women and children. |
